On this 300 hectare mountain retreat you can explore nature at its best. Your stay promises laid back days of tranquility amidst fauna, flora and starlit nights. Here you will find a dramatic landscape, sensational panoramic mountain views and cool streams. Nature lovers will love Bo Kouga Mountain Retreat where birds fly in abandon, wild flowers carpet the countryside and the occasional leopard roams the mountain ravines!

A wonderful experience is the excellent 45 minute walk though the Game Camp (with Springbok, Eland and Zebra) to the secluded permanent waterfall where you can enjoy your own picnic, swim and relax surrounded by nature.

Bo Kouga Mountain Retreat Accommodation

The farm buildings and accommodation have been extensively renovated. The interiors are well appointed with your utmost comfort in mind. Some of the out buildings date back to the 1860's including two of the four cottages.

Cottage 2 - Gemsbok - This free standing cottage dating back to the 1860's, is stylishly renovated and decorated. The cottage sleeps 5 guests. The bathroom has a shower, wash basin and toilet and has two entrances; one from the main bedroom and one from the patio. The kitchen is fully equipped, open plan kitchen and lounge area with a large indoor fireplace.

Cottage 3 - Eland (Pet Friendly) - This cottage is newly refurbished and sleeps 4 guests. We've also made this cottage pet friendly with a dedicated garden area for your furry and/or feathered friends to enjoy their getaway, just as much as you will! The bathroom has a shower, wash basin and toilet. The open plan dining room and kitchen is fully equipped. The kitchen/lounge area is open plan and has a fire place for your comfort and a sliding door which leads on to the patio.

Cottage 4 - Zebra (Pet friendly) - A newly built luxurious stylish cottage awaits you. It is ideal for 2 guests and our attention to detail offers you a luxuriously comfortable and enjoyable stay. The bathroom has a bath, shower, wash basin and toilet. The kitchen is open plan and fully equipped. The lounge has an indoor fireplace for your enjoyment and a sliding door leading onto the patio. The patio has a built-in braai (BBQ) facility with dining table and chairs.

Cottage 5 - Buffalo (Pet Friendly) - This is the largest of our units and sleeps 5 guests (a 6th can sleep on the sleeper couch).  There are two bathrooms (one an en-suite), two bedrooms one with Q/bed and the other with 2 single beds. There is ample built-in wardrobes and a hairdryer. A good quality sleeper couch is in the open plan lounge area. The unit is fully equipped with all the conveniences of home. The patio has a built-in braai (BBQ).

All cottages are supplied with:  Flat screen TV’s with Openview HD Satellite TV services and ​Fire & braai wood, tea, coffee, milk, toiletries, kitchen soaps and towels.

Main House - This house was purposefully built for its location and view of the beautiful mountain range and valley views. The house accommodates 10 people and is ideal for people wanting the tranquil farm environment but with a few of the at home luxuries. Enjoy the comfort and privacy of your farm house surrounded by the natural beauty of Bo Kouga Mountain Retreat. 

Activities

• There is a 45min walk up the kloof to the waterfall where you can have a swim and a picnic and enjoy the surroundings and clean fresh mountain air​.
• Guests enjoying Waterfall/Dams/Swimming: It can get pretty hot here in the summer and you can cool off by having a swim in the cool mountain pools, waterfall or dams. 
• Bird Watching: For bird lovers there are some amazing species to be seen. Home to the black eagle and our national bird the blue crane are frequently spotted here. 
• Game Camp: Take a walk through the Game Camp and spot the Springbok, Eland and Zebra as they graze. 
• Farm Animals: As we are in a farm setting, we have a flock of sheep, a rooster and his hens, a gaggle of geese and of course cats and dogs.
